SMC Renault New Cars - New Laguna and Sport Tourer

The New Laguna Hatch and Sport Tourer is now available in our showrooms, from the distinctive streamlined headlamps, along the sloping bonnet and past the generous air intake grille that hints at the presence of a powerful engine, New Laguna’s proportions are naturally balanced giving the car a dynamic, fluid and elegant appearance.

A wide range of economical, powerful and refined engines will also be available from launch including three diesel and two petrol. Three new engines: 2.0 140 16V, 1.5 dCi 110 and 2.0 dCi 130. One new transmission: 2.0 dCi 150 Auto. Six-speed gearboxes as standard on all manual and automatic transmissions.

With a comprehensive standard level of equipment including: 60W CD-RDS radio, ABS with EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution), air conditioning, alloy wheels (16” or 17” depending on model), electric door mirrors and electric front and rear windows, ESP with ASR traction control.

Safety is still as important to Renault as it has ever been, the Laguna II was the first vehicle to ever achieve a five-star rating in the passive safety assessment tests carried out by the independent body, Euro NCAP. It was a result that took the car into a new era. Today, it’s the turn of New Laguna to achieve the same maximum five-star rating. With a total of 36 points from a possible 37[1] , one of the highest scores ever recorded in the tests, the newcomer even outperformed its predecessor to once again highlight Renault's expertise in the realm of passive safety. In addition to its Euro NCAP credentials, New Laguna delivers reassuring handling thanks to its precise, responsive chassis, while at the same time ensuring a level of braking and technology that puts it at the top end of its category in real-life motoring conditions.

Laguna GT introduces the new Active Drive chassis with four-wheel steering, developed jointly by Renault and Renault Sport Technologies to give the ultimate in driving pleasure, handling, dynamic response and steering precision. The GT is further enhanced by the availability of two exclusive, high-performance engines: 180hp two-litre turbo diesel and 205hp two-litre turbo petrol, which makes the Laguna GT stand out as an innovative model in the sports saloon market.

The Active Drive chassis with four-wheel steering brings many benefits, starting with improved manoeuvrability, sharpened dynamic response, and unrivalled steering precision giving the driver truly intuitive control over the cornering line, achieving new heights in driveability and active safety. In town and on country roads, the car is easy to drive: highly manoeuvrable and precise. Laguna GT corners with very little body roll and a precise line is achieved with small steering inputs. The Active Drive chassis with four-wheel steering also excels in active safety, both under difficult braking conditions (with a good control over asymmetrical grip and with the ESP matched to a more sporting driving style), and during avoidance manoeuvres at speed ('elk' test).
